Mazda unveils its brand new 7-seater family SUV… with diesel!

The Mazda CX-80 has just been unveiled, marking a new milestone for Mazda in the European large crossover segment. This model, which follows the CX-60, is touted as the most spacious and ambitious in the Mazda range in Europe.

Design and Aesthetics: A Japanese Touch

The CX-80 embodies the latest iteration of the Kodo design language, which aims to simplify the design to keep only the essentials, thus reflecting the Japanese minimalist aesthetic.

The dimensions of the vehicle, about five meters in length and a wheelbase exceeding three meters, highlight its size while promising generous living space, especially with its three-row seating configuration.

Technology and innovation

Onboard, the CX-80 offers technological advancements such as Alexa integration, a hybrid navigation system, and a device to facilitate the hitching of a trailer. These features aim to simplify daily use and enrich the driving experience.

Performances and engines

Regarding performance, the CX-80 offers two engine options: a plug-in hybrid version e-Skyactiv PHEV of 327 hp and a diesel variant e-Skyactiv D of 254 hp, which we really appreciated under the hood of the CX-60, both promising excellent environmental performance.

With features like a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration accomplished in less than 7 seconds for the hybrid model, the CX-80 positions itself as a serious contender in its segment.

Comfort and Driving Dynamics

Comfort is not overlooked, thanks to a sophisticated suspension and an all-wheel drive that promise stable and responsive driving. The towing capacity of 2,500 kg and the various seating configurations offer both flexibility and practicality for all types of use.

Safety on board

The vehicle is also equipped with several advanced driving assistance systems, aligned to achieve a maximum score in the Euro NCAP tests, thus reinforcing its profile as a safe choice for families.

With a sale planned for fall 2024 and pre-orders starting in May, the Mazda CX-80 aims to establish itself as a benchmark in the large crossover segment, combining style, space, and advanced technologies at a starting price of 63,100 euros. It remains to see how this model will be welcomed by an already competitive European market.
