Season after season, year after year, fashion strives to reinvent itself. Initiating new trends that we did not see coming, or bringing back some old pieces from our closets. Colorblock look, velvet, workwear pants or even men’s kilt have thus gained a clear resurgence in popularity in recent months.

So, what should we expect for 2024? By analyzing the fashion shows of the latest fashion weeks and the first collections revealed by ready-to-wear brands, here are the main trends to follow (or not) to be “in” in 2024!

The Large Tiles

The plaid is an almost timeless pattern in men’s fashion. But between the small gingham checks of a formal shirt, the Scottish tartan, and the variations of red and black of the Canadian lumberjack style, this geometric pattern is infinitely versatile.

For 2024, it seems that the (very) big check is in fashion, particularly on wide overshirts, in flannel or fluffy material. This winter, all men’s ready-to-wear brands have already adopted it and these XXL checks are also appearing on hoodies and coats.

To avoid spoiling it, simply combine this patterned top with plain pants, blue or ecru denim… depending on the color of the checks!

Originally, the body of the jacket was made of wool and the sleeves of leather, but the varsity jacket now comes in many other forms.

From the bucket hat to sneakers, via t-shirts or chinos, this pastel orange color will easily make its way into the men’s wardrobe this year. It will pair just as well with other light pieces for a bright silhouette or, conversely, with dark clothing for a contrast that catches the eye.

The Commando Sole

On the shoe front, sneakers will remain ubiquitous, of course. But in a completely different vein, it’s thick, treaded soles that are very popular today, in the wake of the return to grace of creepers.

These “commando” soles are also used to dress penny loafers or chelsea boots, giving these elegant shoes a more rugged look. The other trends that do not go out of fashion in 2024

Next to these emerging trends, other items should strengthen their status in the men’s wardrobe. Leather should thus become more and more present, and not necessarily only on jackets, as well as the oversize cut, which we will find as well on shorts as on pants, t-shirts or suits.

Some observers are also betting on a breakthrough of the sleeveless work jacket (somewhat like the vests worn by fishermen, with multiple pockets).
