Just when the hype seemed to have well subsided, Omega and Swatch have found a way to reignite excitement around the MoonSwatch, 2 years after its launch.
The watch is presented in a brand new moon phase version and features a well-known character on its dial: Snoopy.
Why is Snoopy so important to Swatch and (especially) Omega?
A few weeks ago, Swatch created a buzz on social media with a post featuring the Moon, Snoopy and a mysterious suitcase.
A few days later, we learned that the brand was going to auction off eleven suitcases containing the eleven Omega x Swatch Mission to Moonshine Gold watches, for the benefit of Orbis International, an NGO that aims to help blind and visually impaired people. Over 540,000 euros were raised from this new operation, but a mystery remained: what was Snoopy doing in the initial publication?

The presence of the most famous beagle in the galaxy is obviously not up to chance. An authentic mascot of NASA since the 1960s, the dog is even the subject of a prestigious award, the Silver Snoopy Award, which occasionally honors individuals and organizations that have contributed to the prestige of the American space agency. While less than 1% of NASA’s teams can boast about receiving it, Omega was indeed honored in 1970, a year after having landed his Speedmaster on the Moon and after having contributed to the rescue of the Apollo 13 crew.
A real lucky charm, Snoopy made an appearance on the dial of the Moonwatch in 2003, 2015 and then 2020 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this incredible adventure. This latest watch has provoked an enthusiasm at least as impressive as that of the first MoonSwatch, with a 2-year waiting list to hope to sport the beagle on the wrist! So, seeing him today adorn the dial of the brand new Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase is not really that surprising…
The MoonSwatch welcomes its first moon phase!
We had already been given all the planets of the solar system, then special editions for each full moon. Two years after the launch of the collaboration between Swatch and Omega, and a few months after that between Swatch and Blancpain, the two brands of the Swatch Group are therefore revisiting at the moment we least expected it. And in a just as surprising way!

Like the true Omega Moonwatch that hosts a new white dial, the MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase sports a new color that is whiter than white. This is true both on the 42mm bioceramic case and on the velcro strap or the dial. The latter also hosts another striking novelty: a moon phase indicator, positioned at 2 o’clock.
More poetic than ever, this new feature allows you to see Snoopy lying on the Moon at any time. But the watch takes on an additional dimension in the dark, or rather with the help of a UV light, with the appearance of a hidden quote that is too cute among the stars and crescents of the moon: “I can’t sleep without a night light!” (I can’t sleep without a night light). A simple detail, perhaps, but one that could make this MoonSwatch even more desirable.

We can therefore expect to see queues reforming in front of Swatch stores. As with the other models in the collection, this new Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase will be available in a non-limited edition from March 26, 2024, exclusively in a selection of Swatch Stores, with a purchase limited to one watch per person, per day and per store. Its price: 315 euros.
