Citizen has been enjoying some success in Europe for several years now. But if the Japanese brand generally benefits from an excellent quality-price ratio, it’s a particular model that has allowed them to shine: the Tsuyosa.
Equipped with a (very) colorful dial, from yellow to red via Tiffany Blue, this watch immediately became a best-seller. Citizen Eco Drive BM7555-83E
The Eco-Drive technology is one of the strong points of the Citizen brand. Instead of a traditional quartz movement or a more expensive automatic movement, the brand has developed a solar movement (caliber E111-00Z to be precise) which simply recharges with daylight and benefits from a power reserve of 180 days (or 6 months) if the watch is not worn.
As for the rest, this BM7555-83E model features a rather sporty style. Its imposing 43 mm case (with a thickness of 13.5 mm) in black PVD steel encircles a dial rich in information, with white indices, the 4 cardinal points, as well as orange arrows to transform the watch into a compass.
As often with Citizen, we find the crown in an off-center position, at 4 o’clock on the case, while the strap, in black PVD steel as well, completes this adventurous look.
Classic Platform
The Eco-Drive technology is also featured in this Platform Classic watch. But this time, outdoor activities are set aside in favor of more formal evenings, as this model is a true dress watch.
At the heart of the 41.2 mm steel case, the black dial displays horizontal stripes and houses the famous Eco-Drive calibre, which recharges thanks to miniature photovoltaic cells. The inverted triangle indices and dolphin hands, with their rose gold hue, give the watch a real charm, accentuated by the minute track around the edge.
The black bovine leather strap, with matching tone-on-tone stitching, perfectly completes this very elegant set. Given the price, it’s undoubtedly one of the most desirable Citizen watches at the moment.
Super Titanium Eco Drive
We conclude this selection with a model that is both robust, lightweight and also very elegant. As its name suggests, this Super Titanium watch sports a 100% titanium look, an ultra-resistant material that allows it to weigh only 82 grams on the scale.
Its 41.5 mm case (only 9.2 mm thick) highlights a nice blue dial, which is adorned with a double ring and sunray finish and a few touches of orange. To power its hands, this AW1641-81L reference can rely on the Citizen J810 solar movement, with a precision of +/-15sec/month and an impressive autonomy of 240 days!
Now available for less than 150€, it is one of the cheapest titanium watches on the market. But also (and especially) one of those with the best value for money… as is often the case with Citizen.
