At the time of its release in 2022, who could have imagined that the Tsuyosa would meet with such success? Did the managers of the Citizen brand themselves envisage that this colorful model would become a new classic? 18 months later, the facts are there: the Tsuyosa has seduced fashion enthusiasts as well as watchmaking purists.
Offered for less than 300 euros at the time of its launch, it was able to establish itself thanks to its vibrant colours, its elegant finishes and therefore an excellent value for money. Over the seasons, this automatic watch has been declined in a multitude of shades, from the timeless Tiffany blue to a red and gold version. Today, Citizen unveils three new variants of its star, from the most timeless to the most trendy…
Citizen reinvents itself without denying its roots
This season, Citizen expands its collection with three new vibrant timepieces for Tsuyosa watches. Given the success encountered since 2022, the recipe obviously remains unchanged. Almost.
The new pieces always stand out with their minimalist lines and captivating dials (we’ll come back to this). But this time, Citizen decided to use for the first time a date window at 3 o’clock without a magnifying glass. A subtle detail that marks a change in the design of the Tsuyosa, even though this magnifying glass also contributed to the retro charm of this watch.
As for the rest, the Japanese brand remains faithful to the spirit of the collection, whose name means “strength” in Japanese. These new watches still embody this robustness, while offering a touch of modernity and elegance. They reflect a perfect marriage between durability, characteristic of Citizen creations, and a design that continues to evolve to capture the essence of time.

Plain, colorful or patterned: here are the three new dials of the Tsuyosa
But exactly, what do these new dials, presented as vibrant and captivating, look like? The first, the most timeless, may be the most surprising for a Tsuyosa: immaculate white (NJ0159-86A), it gives the watch an insane elegance… even if it means losing its particular uniqueness.
So, since Citizen has always been able to adapt to the changing trends in watchmaking, it has logically turned to THE essential color for the past few months: after turquoise blue, the Tsuyosa also features a “smoked salmon” dial in 2024 (NJ0159-86Z), continuing its exploration of the palette with style.
Finally, the third novelty of the season (NJ0159-86X) is the one with the most character since, this time, the dial does not just turn green, but displays a military pattern. Discreet indeed, but it brings a real touch of sophistication to the watch.
To perfect the look of the Tsuyosa, the 40mm case and the steel bracelet are still part of it, as well as the Citizen 8210 automatic winding mechanical movement. Equipped with 21 jewels and visible through the transparent back, it provides a power reserve of 40 hours.
Available for pre-order now, with initial deliveries expected in March 2024, the three new iterations of the Citizen Tsuyosa remain at the same price, at 299 euros.
