In 2024, the Conquest collection will celebrate its 70th birthday at Longines. However, there is no question of considering retirement, quite the contrary! The brand with the winged hourglass has even unveiled three new variants of the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve.
As its name suggests, its uniqueness lies in its power reserve indicator placed in an unusual position…
Conquest, the pioneering spirit according to Longines
As Longines celebrates the 70th anniversary of its Conquest collection, the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve watch is announced as a symbol of this exceptional longevity. Inspired by a 1950s model, this watch stands out for its original power reserve display, featuring rotating discs at the heart of the dial.
It was in 1959 that the Swiss brand first opted for such a layout. The Conquest ref. 9028 then stood out with its 35 mm diameter case and its automatic Longines 292 movement. It then confirmed that this collection had the “pioneering spirit” since, from its launch in 1954, the Conquest had become the first line of Longines watches whose name was protected by the Federal Intellectual Property Office in Bern.

Automatic and waterproof, the Conquest can also be considered as one of the first toolwatches in history (after the Khaki Field by Hamilton, admittedly). But while it may seem built for adventure, this watch has always managed to reinvent itself over 7 decades and this Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is a magnificent tribute by Longines.

A simply beautiful watch
Available in champagne, anthracite or black shades, the dial of the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is a veritable dashboard of elegance. Framed by twelve applied indices and driven by skyscraper-type hands, this timepiece makes no compromise between aesthetics and readability. The presence of Super-LumiNova on the hands enhances the practical and modern dimension of the watch.
The 38 mm steel case, blending satin and polished surfaces, is topped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Longines highlights the redesigned horns of its watch for added comfort, while the new steel pin buckle ensures a secure and elegant closure.
At the heart of this watch beats the exclusive Longines L896.5 calibre, which provides a comfortable 72-hour power reserve… that is thus found in the central position on the dial (but with a scale that only goes up to 64h). Visible through a transparent back, this mechanism is an invitation to admire the watchmaking expertise of Longines.

With a price set at 4250€, the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve is not just a watch, it’s a piece of history, a testament to the evolution of high-end watchmaking and a statement of timeless style. Above all, it is a nice gift that Longines offers to watch enthusiasts and connoisseurs for the 70th anniversary of this flagship model.
