Why do some women like narcissistic and manipulative men?

In seduction, we often talk about the concept of the narcissistic manipulative woman. But gentlemen, know that narcissistic, Machiavellian and psychopathic men would attract women more! These surprising revelations are the result of a study conducted by Polish and Finnish researchers on 2370 women.

Narcissism, manipulation: assets of seduction?

The mystery of attraction towards personality traits often considered as dark and complex has been examined under the microscope by an intriguing study. The researchers focused on a set of three characteristics often referred to as “dark“: narcissism, associated with selfishness, pride, and a lack of empathy; Machiavellianism, related to lack of morality, manipulation, and ego; finally, psychopathic character, found in tough, impulsive, remorseless, and antisocial individuals.

To delve deeper into their research, 2,370 women were invited to look at photos of men presented in pairs, each displaying faces suggestive of one of these three personality traits. The results revealed a fascinating phenomenon: at the end of the viewing session, the majority of the participants showed a distinct preference for men displaying psychopathic, Machiavellian, or narcissistic traits, while a minority seemed unaffected by these intriguing characteristics.

This study paves the way for in-depth reflection on the complex dynamics of attraction, challenging established norms and unveiling the sometimes surprising mysteries that underlie human preferences in terms of seduction.

Badboy

A choice motivated by the possibility of having children!

An in-depth exploration conducted by Dr. Minna Lyons and her team has shed intriguing light on women’s preference for men appearing dominant, aggressive, or dishonest. The careful examination of the relationship histories of these women revealed a fascinating link between a preference for narcissistic profiles and the proven reproductive capacities of these men. Indeed, the results showed that women attracted to narcissistic traits have given birth to a higher number of children than those attracted to other types of profiles. A similar trend was observed among women attracted to men displaying Machiavellian characteristics.

However, the study took a surprising turn regarding attraction to psychopaths. Unlike the other two categories, attraction towards psychopathic traits did not seem to have an impact on the number of children. This nuance highlights the complexity of the underlying motivations of attraction, suggesting that in some cases, the preference for certain personality traits may be linked to an unconscious assessment of potential reproductive benefits, while raising fascinating questions about the mechanisms that guide romantic choices.

NB : It is crucial to note that the results of this study should not be interpreted as a justification or an incitement to seek partners with narcissistic, Machiavellian, or psychopathic traits.
