Not easy to reinvent oneself when you only have one hand! Yet, MeisterSinger gives a “new” face to its collections with its Passage Edition. A classic single-handed watch in appearance, but which counts down time with a precision never seen before for the German brand.
The exact time, not a “specialty” for MeisterSinger
Have you ever noticed that the hands of watches are often positioned at 610 minutes? Or 36,600 seconds? No? Well, then you probably noticed that these hands typically indicate 10:10… We have already explained the why and how in this article, but in any case, it’s the same thing. Because yes, 10 hours and 10 minutes equate to 610 minutes or 36,600 seconds.
This precise timing is precisely honored in the new MeisterSinger Passage Edition. A novelty all the more surprising because the German house is the absolute reference for single-handled watches, which usually invites you to take your time and not be a minute or two ahead… Indeed, with only one hand to go around the dial, the brand founded in 2001 by Manfred Brassler has always wanted to “encourage a relaxed approach to time in a world in perpetual motion”.
So do we have to think that MeisterSinger denies all its principles with its new watch? Not at all. Because, as precise as it may be, the Edition Passage remains very faithful to the brand’s DNA!

The Edition Passage revisits the N°03 of MeisterSinger
The new watch unveiled by MeisterSinger is actually based on the iconic N°03 collection. Therefore, we find the usual 43mm diameter steel case to showcase the distinctive dial of this Passage Edition.
In ivory color, it is crossed by a single unique blue line that moves “with the usual serenity of MeisterSinger”. But this time, it is not satisfied with telling the time within five minutes: in addition to the 12 black indexes, red numbers count the elapsed minutes (from 60 to 720) while blue numbers indicate the seconds (from 3600 to 43,200). So when it is 6 o’clock, you will also know it is 420 minutes or 25,200 seconds. Certainly, this is not very useful in daily life, but MeisterSinger sees it as a way to make us perceive time differently (and that it passes quickly!).

On the other hand, there is no surprise when discovering the mechanics that drive this Edition Passage. Visible through the transparent back, the automatic Sellita SW200 movement, fitted with a gold-plated rotor, gives this watch 38 hours of power reserve. 2280 minutes, if you prefer. Or 136 800 seconds.
Limited to 100 numbered and engraved pieces, the MeisterSinger Edition Passage comes with a brown vintage calf leather band or a steel model. Its price, meanwhile, is set at 2200 euros.
