An essential sneaker brand, a pioneer of eco-responsible fashion… Veja has been popular for several years now, driven by the immense success of its V-10. But before that, Veja became known with the Volley, a vintage-inspired model that is making a big comeback in 2024!
Soon 20 Years of Success for Veja
Who would have thought in the early 2000s that a small French brand would manage to carve out a place for itself on the sneaker market? To be a more than credible alternative to Stan Smith and other prestigious counterparts? Probably not even François-Ghislain Morillion and Sébastien Kopp themselves had envisioned this.
Yet, the two young graduates of HEC and Paris-Dauphine worked hard to launch their project in 2005. At a time when eco-responsible fashion was still a vague concept, the two men were visionaries in making Veja a “committed” brand.
Inspired by Brazil (its name means “see” in Portuguese), the company uses many bio-sourced materials, including organic cotton, Amazonian rubber, but also recycled plastic bottles and polyester. The duo at the head of Veja also strives to manufacture its shoes near the places where the raw materials are harvested, in this case Brazil. This approach appeals to consumers and sneakers adorned with a V are enjoying growing success in France. A success that attracts the attention of other designers such as Agnès B or Rick Owens, who do not hesitate to team up with Veja for a collab’.
In 2024, as it approaches its twentieth anniversary, the brand proudly announces that it has sold over 14 million pairs worldwide since its inception.

Volleyball is making its return in 2024!
Before the V-10, V-12, and Esplar, as it’s been said, Veja became known with the Volley. In 2005, the brand chose the Palais de Tokyo, in Paris, to officially launch its very first model, inspired by Brazilian volleyball shoes from the 1970s. 5,000 copies were sold, without benefiting from any advertising, but thanks to positive word-of-mouth.
Also, since she is at the origin of the brand’s success, what could be more normal than to see Volley reappear (finally!) in the catalogue? The style does not change (or almost) and we perfectly find the Veja style on these low-top sneakers adorned with the iconic V. Cotton, white leather, black or camel suede: 9 different colors are offered for the beautiful season 2024.

And of course, the materials used have once again been rigorously selected, whether it’s the organic cotton laces or the outsole composed of 40% Amazonian rubber. As for the O.T. leather (for Organic Traced Leather) used for the white sneakers, Veja presents it as its softest leather, sourced from 100% certified organic farms in Uruguay.
Still made in Brazil, the new Volley are now available on the brand’s website, in sizes ranging from 35 to 48, with prices between 135 and 145€.
