The excitement was palpable as we prepared to board our Delta Airlines flight from Amsterdam to JFK, an adventure that promised to be out of the ordinary thanks to our Delta One seats. Despite a short layover at Amsterdam airport that prevented us from fully enjoying the lounge, our Skypriority status was a valuable asset, allowing us to quickly reach our boarding gate.
Ready for a journey in Delta One Class on the A330-300 – the name of Delta’s business class – where we were eager to discover what this experience was going to offer us, far from the usual routine of transatlantic trips.
Welcome aboard
Boarding in Delta One Class on Delta Airlines’ A330-300 turned out to be a seamless and privileged experience, thanks to our Skypriority access. Upon entering the plane, we immediately felt a distinct atmosphere: a mix of professionalism and warmth emanating from the crew, who welcomed us with genuine smiles, a helpful attitude, and a well-deserved welcome Prosecco.

The cabin, although not representing the latest in airplane interior design, nevertheless offered undeniable comfort. The seats, cleverly arranged in a 1-2-1 layout, promised a comfortable and relaxing journey, well isolated from other passengers.

The first contact with the Delta One seats revealed a well-thought-out combination of personal space and amenities. The overall atmosphere of the cabin, with its subtle lighting and layout, created an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming, inviting us to relax and enjoy the upcoming flight, moreover, it’s time to leave Amsterdam, en route to New York.
Discovering our headquarters
Just after takeoff, as the plane was stabilizing in the sky, it was the perfect opportunity to explore the features of the Delta One class seat. These seats, designed to provide maximum comfort on long journeys, are distinguished by their ability to transform into flat beds, an essential feature for restful sleep at altitude.

In terms of privacy and personal space, the seats were designed to provide a satisfactory separation from other passengers. Although they do not offer the complete privacy of a closed suite, the arrangement and layout of the seats allowed one to feel in one’s own space, without being completely isolated from the rest of the cabin. It’s also time to slip on your slippers and discover the very nice travel kit.

The general ergonomics of the Delta One seats were well designed, with enough space to move around, stretch, and easily access personal storage. The adjustable footrests and lumbar supports made it possible to find the ideal position for every phase of the flight, whether it was to work, eat, watch a movie, or sleep… and just as well, it’s cocktail hour!
A culinary journey
The culinary phase of our journey in Delta One began with a warm and attentive service. The hostess, taking care of our row, took the time to present each dish with a contagious smile, making the experience even more enjoyable. The start of the service was marked by some warm nuts and a generous glass of wine, typical of American hospitality.

The salmon gravlax starter was exquisite, a mix of delicate and fresh flavors, perfectly balanced. The soup of the day, offered as an option, added a touch of warmth and comfort to the beginning of the meal. For the main course, I opted for a succulent piece of beef, while my partner delighted in an XXL ravioli, a generous and tasty portion.

The dessert, a perfect balance between sweetness and indulgence, brilliantly concluded this aerial feast. After this hearty and delicious meal, it was time to fully enjoy the comfort of the seat and the entertainment offered by the IFE, a good movie being on the agenda for the rest of the journey.
C’est l’heure du film !
After discovering the comfortable Delta One seats, we decided to immerse ourselves in the onboard entertainment system. We chose “Avatar: The Way of the Water”, a film we were eager to see. The active noise-cancelling headphones provided by Delta greatly enhanced our viewing experience, offering complete immersion in the fantastic world of the film.

The Delta film catalogue, accessible via their Delta Studio system, is vast and varied, including a wide selection of French titles. Finding a movie or series to watch was easy and enjoyable, thanks to the intuitive interface of the entertainment system.

As far as connectivity is concerned, on-board Wi-Fi was available for an additional charge. Delta offers a stable internet connection, allowing passengers to stay connected during their flight for basic needs.
A little nap before landing?
After the movie, the feeling of fatigue due to digestion begins to set in. It’s the perfect time to transform my seat into a comfortable bed. By unfolding the duvet and pillow, I prepared myself for a restful nap. The comfort of the seat, in bed position, encouraged a deep and uninterrupted sleep, turning this “quick little nap” into a real restorative sleep.

Upon waking up, the flight was already well underway. For a snack, I opted for a burger and its coleslaw, immersing myself in the American atmosphere, while madam chose a fresh and tasty salad. This satisfying breakfast was the perfect way to start descending towards our final destination, fresh and ready.

It’s time to say goodbye
Our journey in Delta One class concludes as we begin our approach towards New York, with a smooth and controlled landing at JFK airport. Exiting the plane, even though priority, leads us to the long immigration line, an unfortunate but inevitable step for our entry into the USA.
This Delta One class experience on the A330-300 was overall very positive. Despite a somewhat dated but still functional interior, the comfort of the seat, the excellent quality of service and the constant attention of the crew made our trip enjoyable.
We arrive in New York refreshed and ready, prepared for the next adventure. This transatlantic crossing has turned into a luxury, comfort, and relaxation experience. Will we fly Delta One again if the opportunity arises? Most definitely!
