Masculinism in 2024: How to redefine what it means to be a man

Men seem to lose their bearings with gender struggles. So much so that barely into 2024, masculinism is a scary trend. So, how can one assert their masculinity without resorting to anti-feminist violence? Can we still affirm virility without falling into misogyny?

Masculinism vs. Feminism: Two necessarily opposing notions?

We are now witnessing the emergence of masculinism movements on all social networks, with various ideologies taking shape. At the same time, the struggles for gender equality demanded by several feminine entities are becoming increasingly visible.

How should one embrace masculinity in 2023 and how should a real man now treat a woman in the modern era?

Feminism throughout history

Up until the 18th century, women did not have the right to speak. The very idea of granting them citizen’s rights was then a ridiculous notion. However, a few female voices slowly began to rise in demand of women’s dignity. The advancement of women’s causes had become an agenda topic.

In England, feminist movements were making headlines in the 1940s. The struggles were spreading across all of Europe. In France as in the United States, it was now a matter of granting the same rights to women as to men.

Initially considered as ridiculous, women’s right to vote was then deemed dangerous. But today (fortunately!), it is seen as evident. The least we can say is that the battles fought by several feminists such as the British suffragettes Annie Kennie and Christabel Pankhurst have borne fruit.

In the 70s, feminist struggles gained greater magnitude worldwide. Now, it was mostly about denouncing the multiple discriminations that women face at work, in the streets, etc.

These multiple battles have led to the passing of several laws that greatly favored the female sex. It was a matter of protecting women on all fronts.

Regarding parental custody rights after divorce, women even seemed to be more favored than men. And it’s actually one of the triggers of masculinism in the 80s.

What about the masculinist movement?

Following the numerous judicial decisions that have been made to allow women to flourish better, some men have judged that the masculine condition is now in danger. And for good reason, women seem to be gaining the upper hand over men. The virility of the latter was now in danger.

When we consider that in the 80s and 90s, women generally had over 80% custody of children following divorces, we are tempted to legitimize the new fight of men. During the past decade, however, reality has somewhat evolved. Men are increasingly benefiting from shared custody of children.

Today, groups in favor of masculinism are becoming increasingly numerous and are taking various forms. If some promote equality and the valorization of men with female complementarity, others go further and derive into violence. Many men consider women responsible for their singleness. They go as far as to believe that every man should have the right to make love whenever he wants.

One must admit that the current configuration of society which, according to some, appears to overly protect women, creates great frustration among some men. It even becomes difficult to approach a woman to make advances. The risk of being accused of harassment is very high.

But how to be “a real man” in 2024?

Embrace Your Masculinity in 2024

A classification (simplistic but explicit) of men suggests that the male gender is fundamentally divided into two types:

  • Beta males;
  • The Alpha men.

Who are the Beta men?

One considers as a Beta a man who does not fully assume his masculinity and who does not value himself enough. The Beta man regards women as a kind of superior being whom he should serve and for whom he should make bows. For him, women are too important and he is ready to make excessive sacrifices to satisfy her.

The Beta male does not have specific orientations and lives at the mercy of life’s circumstances. His virility is not strong. And he does not know how to assert himself in the relationship. He considers himself lucky to have a woman in his life and makes her the center of his world.

Being an Alpha Male: the right choice?

The Alpha Male is proud and structured. He has specific goals and does not let life’s situations knock him down. There are several definitions of Alpha. But fundamentally, he is a man who does not consider himself the object of a woman. A true Alpha, however, knows how to value a woman.

What man to be in 2024 to assert his masculinity?

The popularization of pornography and several other current worldly realities seem to make men lose their masculinity. And indeed, they need to rediscover their true identity. Some important points need to be taken into consideration in order to fully assert masculinity without being drawn into excesses.

  1. A true man is organized and has a clear vision. You must be the first to accord yourself great value.
  2. A real man pays attention to details such as his diet and overall health. You should regularly engage in physical exercises to maintain or even increase your testosterone levels.
  3. A real man must dress well.
  4. A real man is respectful to others and demands respect from his peers.
  5. A real man is very respectful towards women. Men and women are different beings who can, however, complement each other. If men are generally favored physically, it should be noted that women possess a certain spiritual power that can be directed in a negative as well as a positive way. The man can exercise some authority in the couple, but it is not a question of one gender being superior to another. However, the woman should not become the center of your life.

In summary, the man in 2024 must be in harmony with current social realities while retaining his dignity and pride. While it is true that the fight for non-discrimination of women should be supported in all areas, it is also necessary to put an emphasis on the valorization of the male sex.

However, knowing how to value a woman is a trait of virility and masculinity. Violence against women is rather a sign of weakness. Therefore, it is about establishing a balance that allows you to maintain your virility while granting the fairer sex all the dignity that goes with it. It will then be necessary to “assume oneself as a strong man while recognizing the place of the opposite sex”. So, masculinism, easier said than done?
